Ok, so what are we, as Americans going to do to stop these insidious, vicious and untrue political ads? There MUST be something we can do. These ads only make me want to stay home on election day. I have to believe that others feel the same way. They show the absolute worst of who we are. What are they teaching our children? Who the hell watches them and believes anything they hear? It's just sick.
How does any law get written? (I haven't seen the School House Rock on passing a bill in a long time)
It just HAS to be done. That's all there is to it. There HAS to be a way.
I really would welcome any and all comments on what you think about this. I can't be the only one out there.

The best time of year
I just love October in Ohio. I really think it's my favorite month of the year. Everything is crisp and bright and the colors are breathtaking with the leaves and all the different colored mums everywhere. The smells are awesome too. And I think people get a little friendlier too. Maybe it's the anticipation of the upcoming holidays or just the change of season and the drop in temperature so that now we're in sweatshirt weather. Not hot, not cold, just comfortable after the super hot summer we had.
I spent a year in Florida back in the 70's and it was awful not having the change of seasons, especially in Autumn. I missed the colors and the smells so much. So, what's your favorite season?

Texting and Sexting and Phones, Oh, my!
There has been so much news coverage lately about kids getting in trouble for inappropriate cell phone use, it leaves me shaking my head. The solution seems pretty simple to me. Take away the phones that text and take pictures and movies! Parents today will say their children HAVE to have a phone in case of an emergency. Ok, fine. But does it have to be the top-of-the-line phone with every bell and whistle available? Just give them a damned phone that makes calls. And when they scream and moan and cry that all their friends have the fancy ones, that's the time to suck it up and tell them it's this or nothing.
It's also the responsible thing to do. If the whole premise of giving your child a cell phone is for their safety, don't give them one they can text on while they're driving because, trust me, kids are going to be irresponsible. (I'm reminded of the time when I was 16 and driving 85mph at 10 pm in my mother's '66 Chevy Impala)....and I was one of the responsible ones! We can't even rely on adults to do the responsible thing. Yesterday on my way to work, I saw 7 people texting while they were driving. All adults. So if grown-ups can't be trusted to act responsibly, how can we expect our kids to?
And if the whole problem is parents not wanting to hear their children's temper tantrums when they tell them "NO", well, just get over it. Now I'm reminded of the old Star Trek episode where Captain Kirk tells Charlie, "There's a million things in this world you can have and a million things you can't have". Kids need to learn that. Hell, we all need to learn that. That's where the whole idea of entitlements and instant gratification and credit cards and living beyond your means starts; by giving kids everything they want. Give em a cheap phone and tell them when they get a job and can afford to buy a phone and pay the monthly bill, then they can go get whatever phone they want.

First time out
Well, I finally did it. Got my blog set up and now I get to expound on any topic I desire. That won't be a problem because I am quite opinionated and fully expect to piss off as many as those who might agree with me. But maybe I'm wrong. I'm just glad to have a place to go to share, vent, suggest, laugh at, cry at, scream at, inform and learn. Would love to have you come along. So, for my first entry....I've always thought the purpose of driving was to get from point A to point B. After driving 30 miles each way to work for 4 years, I have come to understand, the purpose of driving is to be in front. More later!
